Supporting small businesses (& noteworthy Cyber Monday sales)

Cyber Monday sales and the importance of shopping small businesses

Small businesses have the always been near and dear to my heart. Through firsthand experiences volunteering for multiple small businesses throughout the years – and most recently for a shop here in Seattle – I got to see just how much every sale made an impact to the livelihood of the business. There’s a big impact to the local community whenever small businesses in the surrounding areas thrive; the community thrives, too, and it is so lovely to see!

While Black Friday sales this year from large retailers felt lackluster (nothing short on quantity of sales, but the quality of items for sale felt like they fell flat), Small Business Saturday supporters felt like they were out in full force, regardless of sales being touted.

Whether or not you’re doing holiday shopping for yourself, family, loved ones, etc, keep small businesses in mind! A little support can go a long way, especially during this time of year. Links and sale codes below!

Some of my absolute favourite makers and shops to support are also running Cyber Monday sales:
Yokoo is the OG crochet queen on Etsy. She hand makes every single one of the scarves, hats, and cowls in her Etsy shop. It’s always such a fun treat to watch her Instagram Stories that show the behind-the-scenes of her day to day making these beautiful pieces. Shop her annual Cyber Monday sale (20% off storewide with code CYBERMONDAY17) through the Yokoo Etsy shop!

Moorea Seal, local small business storefront owner, author, and all around badass boss lady, is holding an extra 20% off storewide both online and in person. For items that were already on sale, the extra discount touts up to 70% off some items! Moorea Seal stocks the best products from other local designers and small business owners, like Fresh Tangerine, Pine & Boon, Hemleva and Maslo. If you need more of a reason to love this store, 7% of all proceeds are donated to non-profits.

Speaking of Pine & Boon, the current collection is being retired and Jess is offering 20% off on top of the already 40% off of products directly sold through the P&B website. If there’s something you’ve been eyeing for a while, now’s your chance!

On that same note, Hemleva, home of the most gorgeous handmade himmeli and plant-inspired enamel pins, is offering free shipping and a free mistletoe enamel pin for all orders of $30+.

Norwegian Wood, a Montreal-turned-California based company, is home to some of the most beautifully mixed-and-matched pillow covers, wall hangings, and hanging planters.

Frances Austen, a women-owned company that prides itself on high quality clothing made from sustainable materials, is offering free shipping on all orders $100+ and a free reusable tote bag with every order until 11/27/17 (or until they run out).
