From the author of one of Oprah’s favourite things, The 52 Lists Project, Moorea Seal is set to launch her third book, Make Yourself at Home, next week on September 26, 2017. I had pre-ordered my copies (yep, I bought more than one!) of this book about a month ago and was able to pick it up yesterday from Moorea Seal’s local shop here in Seattle. Her Belltown storefront is moving to Downtown Seattle in October, so a few lucky pre-orders of the book were available for pickup before the shop move– how exciting is that?!

I spent an entire evening listening to the rain and curled up in my favourite blanket reading this book from cover to cover. What I can say is that this book is not like your everyday interior design book. Sure, there’s loads of design inspiration from a spectrum of women’s homes that are beautifully decorated. However, what I really enjoyed were the stories each woman shared about the one life event or childhood-evoking memories that contributed to the growth of their personal design aesthetic. This is something so new and refreshing, especially to come from an interior design book that showcases the spaces of six women on various points of the retro to modern to contemporary design spectrum.
In addition to the beautiful spaces and stories behind then, Moorea shares easy DIY projects for unique organization solutions and simple wall decorations. It’s really lovely to have a book that not only inspires but also teaches.
If you pre-order directly from the Moorea Seal store before Sept 26, you can still snag a signed copy of the book and receive bonus digital content! Nothing better than supporting a local Seattle-based boss lady and getting some extra goodies for yourself! You can also pre-order from Amazon (but no bonus content or signed copies available).
